When we repent and are baptized, we receive the Holy Spirit to guide us, but “Do Not Believe Every Spirit.” Even when it seems the Spirit is talking to us, we are warned “Test the Spirits.” I learned from experience, the minister is just a person and will not always get it right. I always took to heart Acts 17:11 (ESV), “Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” It is important for me to examine the Scriptures to see if what I am being told by others is so. Even in my own studies, I know it is important to prayerfully check multiple scriptures to try and assess if what I am learning is so.
When we are babes in Christ, this can be overwhelming and difficult. We must remember God will give us what we are able handle and guide us to the truth. It will be a life time of learning. Come join us as we learn to “Test the Spirits.”

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
