Women in Christ

“And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know” Genesis 18:20-21 (KJV). I have often wondered where this cry came from. We know from 2 Peter 2:8 Lot was tormented by the evil happening around him. But was this cry coming from Lot alone?

Romans 1:28 tell us, “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” Our headlines are filled every day, many times with harm against young children which, I suspect, are most often committed by adults who were abused as children. I think when “Sin So Grievous” is committed, the victims cry out; whether they believe in God or not, God hears those cries.

Things were hopeless in Sodom and Gomorrah. Only four people left the city when warned, and even they were reluctant to leave. I wonder how great the cry from around the world is which God hears every day. A “Time for Judgment” will come.

As always, there are many lessons to learn from each of the chapters of the Bible. Come join us as we examine Genesis chapters 18-20.

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
