Jesus posed the question, "when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8).

Faith is one of the three greatest gifts given by God to those who believe Jesus is the Son of God and who live in obedience to that faith (1 Corinthians 13:13). In the book of Hebrews, faith is defined as "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1).

  • Faith starts our journey through our new life in Christ (John 3:16-18; Acts 26:15-18; Ephesians 2:8-10).
  •  Faith is the map we follow (Galatians 2:17-21; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Colossians 1:21-23; Colossians 2:6-7).
  • Faith is our shield and our breastplate through all the challenges of this journey (Ephesians 6:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:8).
  • Faith completes our journey into our destination, Eternity with God (1 Timothy 6:11-12; Hebrews 12:2).

The faithfulness of God makes our faith possible (Hebrews 11:11). Our faith increases and strengthens as we "walk by faith" and experience the faithfulness of God throughout our lives (Colossians 2:6-7).

If we get our eyes off of the source of our faith, Jesus the Son of God, our faith can be destroyed (2 Timothy 2:16-19; Hebrews 3:12-14). Faith is God's gift to us. Faith does not depend on us except to continue in the faith we have been given (Colossians 1:23.)
