Even though I just started reading this book (June 28, 2017), I was so impressed by the first few chapters that I wanted to share it with you. Alice Gray has collected various stories (with permission from the authors) which illustrate hope in the lives of real people. I suspect that not every story will speak to every heart; but I'm equally certain that every heart will find some story or stories which will inspire and be of comfort and encouragement. Each chapter concludes with questions for meditation or journaling plus a prayer. Some may find these helpful. We do rely on the Scriptures for our instruction and inspired words of God; but we also find comfort and encouragement in the lives of other Christians who continue to hope while living in this world of trouble and heartache. I especially liked her quote for the opening to the Prologue: "God is the only one who can make the valley of trouble a door of hope." —Catherine Marshall. |
