"These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Heb 11:39 - 12:3

Abundance of the Heart
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. -- Matthew 11:29 NIV     I’m a boy from the city, so for many years I misunderstood these words of Jesus. I once thought that Jesus was painting a picture of me with my neck in the yoke with Jesus walking behind me, reins and maybe whip in hand, “encouraging” me onward.   ... more

Book Reviews

My own son is in his late 30’s with a growing family of his own, so it is a little too late for me to begin putting much of the author Elizabeth George’s suggestions into practice. Although, I did find some suggestions applicable to a mother of grown children and also useful to a grandparent.   ...more
