In this month’s commentary, The Riches of God’s Grace, Scarlett quotes a definition of gracious as “favor on the part of the giver, thanks on the part of the receiver.” In Genesis 6:8 it states, “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” I love the further information given in the foot note of my Ryrie Study Bible. “Favor, or grace, Heb., chen from a root meaning to ‘bend or stoop,’ thus condescending or unmerited favor of a superior person to an inferior one.” What a beautiful picture word of our great and powerful Father in heaven bending down to help us!

We do not deserve it, yet he is gracious to us every day. In a post by a friend on another subject, Lamentations was quoted which to me applies to not only the compassion and love of God but to that of his being gracious.

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
       for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
       great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

May we all be blessed with, and be thankful for, the graciousness of God.
