As some of you may know, this
website is a small ministry. It consists of Scarlett Stough and me, with
contributions from some of our readers. As such, when major occurrences
happen in our lives, it can affect the website. That is why the website
for this month was delayed.
My father passed away in March, so the
month overflowed with personal concerns. While the passing away of anyone
we love is never easy, my father led a long, full and good life. He would
have turned 89 in May of this year. He was a decorated World War II veteran.
He was wounded while helping two other men, one of whom was wounded, out
of the mire of a small creek as they were withdrawing from heavy enemy
fire. While the other two continued in the withdrawal, he was subsequently
captured and became a prisoner of war. He survived the war and helped raise
his four children. My father had faith in our God in heaven. He tried to
serve others whenever he could.
The season in which he died is full of
hope. We are reminded of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for us. I know my father
will live again because of that sacrifice.
This website was started to focus on the
lessons we can learn from the women in the Bible. As I watched “The
Nativity Story” and “The Passion,” I was reminded of the great faith
of Mary. When the angel announced to Mary that she was to be the mother
of “the Son of the Most High,” she answered, “I am the Lord’s servant,
may it be to me as you have said.” When God sacrificed his only son, Mary
watched on as her son died.
The next few months we will focus on another
woman of faith. She had great faith and served others. She received the
prophet Elisha in her home. In “A Prophet’s
Reward,” we study what we can learn from her example of that service.
As we reflect on Jesus Christ’s service
and sacrifice this special season, come join us as we learn a lesson of
service and faith from “A Great Woman.”
