Paul wrote a letter to Titus instructing
him to teach the older women who, in turn, would teach the younger women.
It makes sense that Titus would teach a few women and they would pass that
on to others. Why didn't Paul instruct him to teach those who had been
of the Faith the longest? Wouldn't they have more scriptural knowledge
whatever their age?
I believe that age adds a dimension that
youth can not. Until you have lived through the difficulties of life, you
lack understanding that a more experienced person has gained.
Does that mean the older person did things
God's way before she came to Christ? Not necessarily, but a person can
examine God's way in light of their life's experiences and gain wisdom
to pass along to the next generation.
We take a look at the character the older
women are to learn and pass on in our Bible Study Guide, Be
Reverent, as we examine the Older
Women of Titus Chapter Two in this month's issue.
