I often thought of the "root of
bitterness" as an obvious poison, something that you would easily want
to stay away from.
But poison is not always bitter or distasteful
when first ingested. Some foods may contain toxins that are not obvious
in the taste. Once we learn the food is causing damage to our bodies, we
must stop eating the food or we will eventually experience the bitterness
of the toxin.
It may be a certain lifestyle which may
not be bad. The problem starts when we think we can have both it and loyalty
to God. Then small choices come up, sometimes seemingly insignificant.
Before long we start deceiving ourselves and make choices that take us
further and further from God.
We need to stop and take a look at our
lives. Are we putting anything before God? Do we see any root of bitterness?
Come join us as we examine the root of
bitterness.
