We all come to God bound by Satan.
I am referring to our sins, our character, our physical and psychological
condition and our desires.
Some physical desires are not in themselves
evil. It could be a well paying job, or maybe your health. Yet those desires
can be challenged to see if we truly desire the spiritual over the physical.
"Those who live according to the
sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those
who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the
Spirit desires." Romans 8:5
I observe the Seventh day Sabbath. I am convicted
that I should observe it.
" For in six days the LORD made
the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested
on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made
it holy." Exodus 20:11
Currently, I risk losing a well paying job,
my only source of income, for observing the Sabbath. But to give in would
be setting my mind on what nature desires, rather than what the Spirit
desires.
Thankfully, God's Holy Spirit does not
make me a slave to fear, Romans 8:15. Even though I face the prospect of
being without a source of income, I know where I stand.
"The Spirit himself testifies
with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then
we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share
in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
I consider that our present sufferings
are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans
8:16-18
Romans 8:28 states, "And we know that in all
things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose." God can use whatever happens in our life to
work for the good of our spiritual health and welfare.
I can be released from what my nature desires
and instead set my mind on what the Spirit desires.
" Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness
or danger or sword? As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all
day long;
we are considered as
sheep to be slaughtered."
No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death
nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus
our Lord." Romans 8:35-39

"The Woman Set Free."
