Notes from Nancy

We could have focused the theme for this month on the fact that Huldah was a prophet. But the lesson from this passage is so glaring and pertinent in today's culture, we can't help but focus on the need for an example of the cleaning up of the temple.

Today, we are the temple that needs cleaning. (I Corinthians 3:19).

As I look around, it appears the greatest idol is self-satisfaction. When you look back to Josiah's time, it looks similar to the idols of today. Of course, they made offerings to wooden and stone idols. But the reason was the same, they wanted "the good life."

The idol worship focused on sexual worship of fertility gods. And in the hopes of having abundant crops, they would even sacrifice their own children.

Just as in Josiah's time, the human sexuality that God designed and made holy between a man and a woman joined in marriage is being perverted.

Children are being sacrificed before they are born, often because they will interfere with a person's lifestyle.

This month's issue is an important one, but may be difficult for those who are new to Christ. Join us as we study, "This is What the Lord Says."
