| "In the Tiki room" was the subject title
for Jerry Webb's essay on the forum. What a beautiful message of hope I
found inside! (We share that essay in this month's Abundance of the Heart,
titled, “I'm going to Disneyland!”)
I am just getting acquainted with Jerry. I first read an essay by him, "Our Unseen Support", in "The Sabbath Morning Companion." I found that Jerry was on a forum I had recently joined. I am not able to visit the forum often, so I did not know Jerry. Upon looking up his bio, I found he has been suffering from cancer since 1996. It was diagnosed as terminal in 2000. At the end of his personal statement he states, "Am in great spirits and have accepted what may happen to me soon. Rely on and very much appreciate prayers of forum members to see it through to the end. Ah, but then the beginning, which I look forward to with great anticipation." As Jerry relies on the prayerful support of his friends, so we are inspired by him. I find it encouraging when I see someone so valiantly facing death. "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?", I Corinthians 15:55 comes to mind. All the cares and trials that I have fall
into perspective. It strengthens my hope, the hope of glory.
