Women in Christ (logo) Notes from Nancy

The Bible at times seems to contradict itself. The first example that comes to my mind is:

Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.

Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.

Proverbs 26:4-5

It is not really a contradiction; we just need wisdom to determine which instruction applies -- not always an easy task.

"Because We Love" does not mean we always yield in every situation, as Scarlett Stough discusses in this month's commentary. While we are to love "With Actions and in Truth", sometimes the people on the receiving end may not initially feel the love when we don't give them what they want. We may instead give them something they need.

It is not always clear in our eyes how to handle a situation in love, but remember we do not have to remain without wisdom. We need only to ask.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5
