Women in Christ (logo) Notes from Nancy

Have you ever taken a day to really listen, or read in the case of our social internet media, to the conversations, including your own, going on around you? Much of the so called ‘humor’ I hear is degrading some physical or personality aspect of another person - all for a good laugh. Or you may hear someone listing all the doom and gloom things in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe we should be aware of what is happening in the world. What I do not often hear is, "But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thessalonians 5:8-9" Or perhaps, phrases such as: "do not be afraid"; "God is faithful in His promises"; "we can do all things through Christ Jesus"; "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power"; "we can do all things through Christ." I could go on with the many encouraging comments in the Bible reminding us to have hope, which we also can use to remind others and lift them up with encouragement.

We must examine ourselves for Idle Words. For it is By Your Words, both fellow Christians and non-Christians may be lifted up or torn down. The tongue is indeed hard to control. I hope this month’s issue helps us all to grow closer to the image of Christ.
