Women in Christ (logo) Notes from Nancy

This month we come to the end of our series on James 3:17, godly wisdom. Godly wisdom is to be Without Partiality; Without Hypocrisy. It is not always easy to be Unbiased and Sincere. Suppose you are in a situation in which you must decide who does a certain assignment. You have a friend who really wants to do it, but you know someone else is better suited to that assignment. You must decide without partiality. All the other aspects of godly wisdom come into play in handling the situation.

It is good to examine our motives for our actions. Are we doing this so we can look good or because we desire to serve God and others whether there is an immediate reward for us or not? If we are not true in our motives, even if there are outward signs of some other characteristics of godly wisdom, our actions are just a display of hypocrisy.

What is really wonderful is to work together with a group of Christian women who are doing their best to apply godly wisdom in their lives. I have had the pleasure of working with such women to present the Women in Christ Christian Women’s Retreat these past five years. The Retreat is more of the same. It brings joy to my heart and a voice inside which sings:

How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head,
  running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down upon the collar of his robes.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
  were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the LORD bestows his blessing,
  even life forevermore.

Psalm 133

I hope you will join us in concluding our study on James 3:17
