Your Prayer Can

Did anything change today because you went to God with a petition?

Every prayer has the potential to bring good where bad now has the upper hand.
Your prayer can bring down an unjust government.
Your prayer can move the obstacles to freely proclaiming the sovereignty of God and salvation through Jesus anywhere in the world.

Your prayer can restore life and health to a terminally ill patient who still has work to do before entering the rest that God promises to those who belong to him.
Your prayer can prevent unjust laws from being passed or cause them to be rescinded.

Your prayer can lead to reconciliation between quarreling factions.
Your prayer can change the course of a hurricane or bring rain where drought now exists.

Do you think only very special holy people get their prayers heard and answered?

Not so. “Elijah was a man just like us….” (James 5:17) Yet, God heard his prayer and kept rain from falling for three years. Then he prayed again and God sent rain so that food would once again grow. Elijah wanted people to know who God is.

You can be a righteous person who prays earnestly. Get right with God; he will make you righteous. Learn to value kindness, righteousness, and justice as he does and then begin praying these qualities into existence.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace, with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
