| When Phillip Keller, a shepherd in
British Columbia, first encountered Lass, the dog lived in an abusive home.
A border collie has been bred to be a sheep dog but Lass had been prevented
from being what she was meant to be. Lass was suspicious and resented her
new owner.
Phillip Keller in poignant descriptions shows how we need to be set free from our abusive master, Satan. But we are not set free to do whatever we want. We are set free to follow a loving master—Christ. But we resist the approach of Jesus and act as Lass did. He describes in vivid and warm language how Lass finally made the decision to come to Phillip and trust him. Phillip Keller rejoiced and knew how Jesus and the angels in heaven feel when one sinner comes to repent. He describes how the choice was entirely up to the dog. He loathed the thought of having to destroy Lass. The author tells of the transformation, the training and the life Lass then lived as a sheep dog. He and his dog grew close. He recounts problems. He shows how every one of these are parallels to us and our life with Christ. The book is only 73 pages long but is warm, vivid,
encouraging, and helpful. Children would probably love the book also.
