You Will Be My Witnesses By Scarlett Stough To prepare for this Bible study guide,
please read the Women in Christ Commentary Along
With The Women.
Part I The Example of “Along With The Women.” 1. Acts 1:4-8; Luke 24:45-49 What did Jesus
instruct his disciples to do? What did he promise them?
2. Acts 1:12-17; Luke 24:50-53 How many
people followed his instructions? What was their attitude? What did they
do during the time they waited?
3. Acts 2:1-6 What did the disciples who
waited hear and see on Pentecost? What gift did the Holy Spirit give them?
What did the crowd nearby hear and see?
4. Acts 2:5-13 What effect did this display
from the Holy Spirit have on the crowd assembled at the Temple in Jerusalem?
5. Acts 2:14-36 How did Peter use the gift
of “speaking in tongues?”
6. Acts 2:37-47 What was the result of
the power the Holy Spirit gave?
7. Acts 2:16-18; Joel 2:28-32; Acts 8:1-5
What actions do people take who have the Holy Spirit poured out on them?
8. I Corinthians 14:1-40 What, according
to Paul as recorded in the inspired word of God, is the appropriate use
of “speaking in tongues” and what are the restrictions?
Part II Now About Spiritual Gifts 1. I Corinthians 12:3; Matthew 7:21-23;
Deuteronomy 13:1-5; Galatians 5:16-26 How can we recognize whether or not
a sign or a wonder is through the power of the Holy Spirit rather than
a different spirit?
2. I Corinthians 12:4-30 What are the different
gifts or powers the Holy Spirit gives? Does every person receive every
power or even the one she might request? What purpose do these powers serve?
3. I Corinthians 12:31; 13:1-13; 14:1-4
What is the most important gift or power the Holy Spirit imparts? Why is
this power greater than having the ability to speak another language?
4. John 13:34-35; John 15:9-17; John 17:20-23
How are the disciples of Jesus identified? From I Corinthians 13 describe
how this gift or power is expressed? How does this affect the use of the
other gifts of the Spirit?
5. Acts 4:23-34; Acts 5:12-32 What did
the believers pray and ask God to do and why? How did God answer their
prayer? What message did Peter and the other apostles speak? (Acts 5:20,
30-31) Who are the witnesses to the truth of this message? (Acts 5:32)
6. I Peter 3:15-16 How can you prepare
to use your speech to bring the knowledge of the hope you have in Christ
to others? What in your life would prompt someone to ask you about your
hope? Would speaking another language help or hinder in your situation?
Explain, keeping in mind I Corinthians 14:23-25
