INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE STUDY GUIDE

These studies do not tell you what the Bible says. The scriptures given direct you to specific topics. The questions are intended to help you focus on the study. No answers are given. You have to read and search the scriptures for the answers. We encourage you to use Bible helps such as concordances and commentaries. However, scholars and theologians often disagree on interpretation and application. The best study help comes from God. Pray. Allow yourself to be honest with your reactions, but don't jump to conclusions. It takes time to read and meditate on all the Bible says on various topics. Feel free to ask questions in your prayers. You will be amazed to discover that God does answer the sincere seeker. You will also be surprised that the Bible may not say what you might think it does on many subjects. Keep a notebook. A loose leaf one would make it possible to add thoughts and additional information as you learn more about different subjects. Welcome to an exciting search.

Bible Study Guide:

Hold Fast the Confidence

By Scarlett Stough

To prepare for this Bible study, please read the women in Christ commentary, With All Confidence.

The questions below are based on the KJV translation which uses the word "confidence", but other versions can be used.

1. Acts 28:30-31. While under house arrest, Paul continued to preach to everyone who came to him. How do you think he prepared to speak so confidently?

2. Hebrews 3:6. What is the confidence we should hold fast and the hope in which we rejoice? If you don't know, continue to read the remainder of the Bible Study Guide and the scriptures quoted and come back to it later.

3. Matthew 7:6; Luke 10:8-12. Why do you think Jesus discouraged continuing to argue with an unwilling person?

4. 2 Timothy 4:2-4. Who is it to whom Timothy is admonished to "preach the word?" How can you tell fables from "sound doctrine?"

5. 1 Peter 3:15-16. What do you need to do to "be ready always" to answer questions about your hope?

6. 1 Timothy 1:12-16. Why did Paul have the confidence to preach the good news of the hope God gives us in Christ?
