These studies do not tell you what the Bible says. The scriptures given direct you to specific topics. The questions are intended to help you focus on the study. No answers are given. You have to read and search the scriptures for the answers. We encourage you to use Bible helps such as concordances and commentaries. However, scholars and theologians often disagree on interpretation and application. The best study help comes from God. Pray. Allow yourself to be honest with your reactions, but don't jump to conclusions. It takes time to read and meditate on all the Bible says on various topics. Feel free to ask questions in your prayers. You will be amazed to discover that God does answer the sincere seeker. You will also be surprised that the Bible may not say what you might think it does on many subjects. Keep a notebook. A loose leaf one would make it possible to add thoughts and additional information as you learn more about different subjects. Welcome to an exciting search.

Bible Study Guide:

Go On Unto Perfection

By Scarlett Stough

To prepare for this Bible study, please read the women in Christ commentary, A Perfect Man (or Woman).

1. Matthew 5:48; John 17:22-23. During Jesus' sermon recorded in Matthew chapters 5 through 7, he taught his disciples they should become perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. In what ways can we, who are full of weaknesses and faults, obey this command?

2. Ephesians 4:12-14. For what purpose did the Holy Spirit give gifts to the members of God's church?

3. Romans 12:1-3. How do we conform to the "perfect will of God"?

4. Hebrews 5:12-6:12. As an infant develops, the child no longer depends on milk alone for the nutrition to continue to grow. How is a Christian "of full age" (KJV) to continue developing toward godly perfection?

5. James 1:2-4.What qualities do we gain by facing our troubles with faith and courage?

6. Hebrews 4:16. Too often, like Adam and Eve, when we sin, fail to be "perfect", we may feel like hiding from God. What gives us the courage to return to him for the help we need?

7. 1 John 3:1-3. What future can we look forward to which can encourage us to continue even when life gets bewildering and tough?
