Once I was timid
I am still timid
But
Now God in me helps me
Do courageous things.

Once I felt inadequate
I am still inadequate
But
Now Christ in me creates success
Out of each opportunity.

Once I condemned myself and 
Others for every failure
But
Now Christ in me
Forgives and restores peace of mind.

Once I was angry and bitter
Without light or salt.
But
Now God's love reconciles, accepts, 
And restores relationships.

Once I did what 
I thought was right
But
Now God's Word leads me
To do what God says is right.

Once I sought happiness
In pleasure, possessions, position
But
Now I seek holiness
And the Joy of Salvation.

Once I entertained whatever
Thoughts entered my mind
But
Now I discard those thoughts
That grieve the Holy Spirit.

Now I deny myself
Pride, apathy, retaliation, gratification
And
God honors, comforts, reconciles, and satisfies
In this New Abundant Life.
